The course is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts of sustainable development and institutional arrangements for the governance of our natural environment. It aims to familiarize students with contemporary environmental issues, theories on environment and development as well as interpretation of Constitution for creating a sustainable society. It also comprehends the role of judiciary especially the Supreme Court of India in ensuring environmental rights by expounding the essential doctrines of sustainable development. At the end of the course, students will be able to fully comprehend and critically analyse the contemporary environmental scenario of the country and the remedies available to them through judicial institutions.
